Roman blinds are a traditional favourite: compact, functional and a perfect match for modern fabrics. Our made to measure Roman Blinds & Shades suit bedrooms, lounges, kitchens and home offices, and give a soft, tailored look without the need for curtains.
Every one of our Roman Blinds & Shades is made to your exact width and drop. Choose your fabric and colour, choose recess or facefix fitting, and we make it to order. Fabrics range from sheer to blockout, and your choice decides how much light comes into the room and how much privacy you have when the shade is lowered.
Roman Blinds & Shades at a glance: Classic vs Decorative

| Lining | See product page | Poly cotton or blockout |
| Made in | 15 to 21 days | About 2 weeks (up to 3 weeks Sept to Dec) |
| Warranty | 2 year factory warranty | 2 year factory warranty |

Premier Weave and privacy: Premier Weave is not recommended for privacy locations, like bedrooms, as perforation allows inward visibility at night.
Linen (Blockout) and Premier Weave (Translucent) are stiff: the Linen Range (Blockout) has a PVC stiff white backing. This fabric is inflexible, preventing the folds from laying perfectly flat. The stiffness also applies to the Premier Weave (Translucent) Range.

Roman Blinds & Shades Care
These are the care symbols printed on each Decorative range fabric by its supplier.
A finished Roman blind also has lining, rods and a headrail, so we recommend dusting or vacuuming gently with a soft brush and spot cleaning marks with a damp cloth and mild soap (test a hidden area first), rather than machine washing the blind.

How to Measure your Roman Blinds
How to measure Inside (Recess) blinds:
- Ensure that the recess your blind is going into is not obstructed in any way so the blind can hang freely when fully extended. Look out for protruding window handles and tiles!
- Verify you have 35mm inside top wall recess available for the blind head rail to be mounted onto - refer to illustration to the left.
- Measure at various places (J,K,L) as illustrated and input the shortest width dimension.
- Measure at various places (G,H,I) as illustrated and input the longest drop dimension.
- Verify you have 35mm inside top wall recess available for blind head rail to be mounted onto. ( Z )
Note: We will make your blind to fit into the recess perfectly. Do not make any deductions to the measurements as our factory will make the allowances required for recessed blinds.
- We recommend using a metric metal tape measure and take the exact measurements to the millimetre.
- Always double check your measurements.

How to Measure your Roman Blinds
How to measure Outside (Facefix) blinds:
- Decide how much you want to overlap the blind on all sides - we recommend this should be at least 50mm - 100mm each side in most instances.
- Carefully measure the width of D, E and F (see the diagram) and the drop from A, B and C.
- Roman blinds gather into folds at the top when raised. If you want the folds to sit clear of the glass, fit the headrail higher above the window and include that in your drop.
- Note: No deductions are made for Facefix blinds - the exact size you give us is manufactured.

Types of Blinds
Blinds come in two different kinds, which will suit different needs. Do you want the blind to fit inside the window (Recess) or outside (Facefix)?
Outside (Facefix) blinds are easier to install, ideal if you want to hide features around the window and does not require exact measuring.
Inside (Recess) blinds provides a neat appearance, but requires exact measuring and a top recess large enough to accommodate the size of the head rail.
Choosing your Lining
The lining is sewn to the back of your Roman blind. It helps the folds hang neatly and protects the face fabric from the sun.
- Poly Cotton lining - Soft, light-filtering lining - the room stays bright while you keep your privacy.
- Blockout lining - Blocks most of the light - ideal for bedrooms, nurseries and TV rooms.
Once your size is entered, the price of each lining is shown next to it.
How your Roman Blind Operates
- Cord & Cleat (Standard) - Baton headrail, raised with a cord and tied off on a cleat (mounted to side wall).
- Mechanical Headrail - Chain-operated headrail for smooth raising and lowering. Supplied with a plastic chain, or choose a metal chain.
- Control side - the side the cord or chain hangs on, as you face the window.
- Child safety: keep cords and chains out of the reach of children and always secure the cord on the cleat.
